Todas las instituciones eclesiales condenan la agresión sufrida por un jubilado en Torre Pacheco (Murcia) así como el estallido de violencia racista que está sufriendo toda la comunidad. Se han sucedido los mensajes del obispo de Murcia-Cartagena, Mons. Lorca Planes, del párroco local Manuel Verdú, del responsable de migraciones de la Conferencia Episcopal, Fernando Redondo, como recoge la revista Ecclesia.
En la homilía dominical, el párroco señalaba: «no podemos dejarnos llevar por todas esas situaciones que el mal aprovecha para, como en una tela de araña, enredarnos en el odio, en el rencor, en la exclusión o en la discriminación. No podemos escuchar a todas aquellas voces que buscan generar en nosotros sentimientos de enfrentamiento tales, que nos lleven a vivir episodios tan desagradables como los que estamos viviendo estos días y que no representan a nuestro pueblo de Torre Pacheco, que siempre ha sido un pueblo donde sus vecinos han dado ejemplo de acogida, solidaridad y fraternidad».
Fernando Redondo insiste en su mensaje que las parroquias deben seguir propiciando momentos y espacios de encuentro entre migrantes y autóctonos que posibiliten la escucha, superen prejuicios y favorezcan el enriquecimiento mutuo.
Por su parte, entidades sociales de la Iglesia, como CONFER, el Servicio Jesuíta al Migrante, Revuelta de Mujeres en la Iglesia, Red Íncola, Red Miriam de Espiritualidad y distintas socias de REDES han suscrito un comunicado junto a cientos de pequeñas organizaciones para condenar la criminalización colectiva de las personas migrantes y pedir medidas concretas para reconducir la situación. Entre ellas destacamos el trabajo de prevención frente a los discursos de odio que otras socias de REDES como Bosco Global, Jóvenes y Desarrollo, Entreculturas, y todas las que trabajan la Educación para la Ciudadanía Global vienen desarrollando.
Acogemos igualmente con alegría el gesto del obispado de S. Feliu de Llobregat, poniendo todos los recursos a disposición de la comunidad musulmana local que ha sufrido el incendio vandálico de su mezquita, según informa Vida Nueva.
