La Semana Mundial de Oración por la Unidad Cristiana 2023 (18-25 enero) nos impulsa a darnos cuenta de que las divisiones entre nuestras iglesias y confesiones no pueden desvincularse de las divisiones dentro de la familia humana en general.
Por eso las entidades de Enlázate por la Justicia hemos querido sumarnos especialmente a esta celebración. El material de reflexión preparado desde el Consejo Mundial de las Iglesias señala que orar juntos por la unidad cristiana nos permite reflexionar sobre lo que nos une y comprometernos a hacer frente a la opresión y la división que existen en la humanidad: “La unidad cristiana debe ser signo y antesala de la unidad reconciliada de toda la creación. Como personas cristianas, debemos estar dispuestas a desbaratar los sistemas de opresión y abogar por la justicia”.
El Rev. De Young señala cómo el equipo que ha elaborado los materiales de reflexión partió de la indignación que generó el crimen racista de George Floyd en 2020. “Es difícil clasificar los problemas relacionados con la injusticia racial y social como asuntos políticos o asuntos espirituales. Los profetas hebreos solían decir la verdad sobre las injusticias a los dirigentes políticos de su tiempo. Jesús predicó un evangelio que traía buenas noticias y liberación a los oprimidos. Lo espiritual es político; y lo político necesita de lo espiritual.”
