El viernes 24 de febrero cumplimos un año de guerra abierta en Europa. La Coordinadora de Organizaciones para el Desarrollo ha enviado al presidente P. Sánchez una carta para pedir mayores esfuerzos para facilitar vías hacia la paz, aprovechando especialmente que en julio España asume la presidencia rotatoria del Consejo Europeo. Igualmente recuerda que España es el quinto exportador mundial de armamento y que incrementar el presupuesto de gasto militar no es el camino. Por último, invita a escuchar a las organizaciones de la sociedad civil de la zona de conflicto, galardonadas con el Premio Nobel de la Paz 2022, que recientemente se han reunido en un evento en Madrid.
La misiva concluye así: “La militarización de las relaciones internacionales no evita las guerras, sino que las promueve. La construcción y consolidación de la paz requiere diálogo, es un proceso complejo y de profundas transformaciones. Su posición en la presidencia de la Comisión Europea le otorga un lugar privilegiado para activar mecanismos a favor de la paz. Por nuestra parte, estamos a su disposición para contribuir a una salida que ponga fin a la guerra y a esta espiral de sufrimiento.”
Junto a otras organziaciones sociales, la Coordinadora convoca este viernes en Madrid el evento La PAZ es la única solución, que podrá seguirse on line.
A nivel eclesial en Madrid se celebrarán varios eventos. La Comunidad de San Egidio invita a una Vigilia a las 20:00 horas en la iglesia Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas, y en la Catedral, desde las 19.30 se celebrará la Noche de los Testigos, promovida por Ayuda a la Iglesia Necesitada, en la que se realizará una oración especial por la paz en Ucrania.
