Un equipo de líderes y lideresas en DDHH representantes de la red ecuménica Iglesias y Minería visitará España a principios de abril invitados por REDES y Enlázate por la Justicia. Esta plataforma eclesial acompaña a las comunidades latinoamericanas afectadas por los megaproyectos mineros, denunciando los abusos de las empresas causantes.
La comitiva estará encabezada por Mons. Vicente Ferreira, redentorista y obispo auxiliar de Belo Horizonte, secretario de la Comisión de Ecología Integral y Minería de la Conferencia de Obispos de Brasil (CNBB). D. Vicente viene acompañando estrechamente a la comunidad de Brumadinho, parte de su diócesis, que ha sido víctima en 2019 del desplome de la presa de la minera VALE, causando 272 muertes y enorme daño ambiental.
El equipo recorrerá diversos países europeos, para alzar su voz en foros como la Comisión de Obispos Católicos de la Unión europea (COMECE), la alianza CIDSE o el Dicasterio para el Servicio del Desarrollo Humano Integral. Junto a su denuncia, esta plataforma eclesial propone con su campaña de desinversión en minería nuevos modelos de inversiones financieras por parte de las estructuras eclesiales que no alimenten este sistema extractivista que genera muerte y degradación.
Para REDES es una oportunidad de amplificar esa voz del sur que debe mover nuestras conciencias y estilo de vida, y que nos interpela a la conversión ecológica a la que toda la Iglesia y la sociedad estamos llamados. El equipo insiste en que “las comunidades de fe provenientes de América Latina dialoguen y busquen caminos junto con las comunidades cristianas del Norte”.
En España, el equipo nos sensibilizará sobre la importancia de los procesos legislativos de Diligencia Debida que venimos apoyando junto a Enlázate por la Justicia, dentro de la Plataforma para las Empresas Responsables. Estas leyes servirán para proteger a las comunidades representadas por Iglesias y Minería.
En sus 3 días de visita estamos ultimando una apretada agenda de eventos, que se iniciará con una Eucaristía el domingo 3 de abril en la parroquia de la Virgen de Atocha de Madrid, de los Padres Dominicos. El grupo participará también, entre otros espacios, en un foro con empresas y sociedad civil en la Universidad de Salamanca, así como un encuentro con el equipo diocesano de Justicia y Paz en Sevilla, además de ser recibido en la Conferencia Episcopal Española.
